The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk girls clinched their fourth consecutive state championship at the Iowa High School Track and Field Championships last week at Drake Stadium in Des Moines.

There were several state champions from the KCII listening area at the meet. Washington’s Elijah Morris claimed the title in the 400m, Mid-Prairie’s Danielle Hostetler was state champ in the 3000m and Mitzi Evans claimed first in the 400m and 800m races, and Evans and Hostetler along with Madeline Schrader and Amara Jones earned the title for distance medley.

State runner ups included Washington’s Brayden Hartman in discus and the distance medley team of Morris, Ethan Patterson, Jacob Miller, and Lance Sobaski, Mid-Prairie’s Jayden Stafford in the 100m, 200m, and 400m wheelchair races, and Evans in the 200m.

Third-place finishes went to Washington’s sprint medley team of Patterson, Austin Rebling, Miller, and Morris; Mid-Prairie’s Hostetler in the 1500m, Columbus Community’s Triston Miller in high jump, and Highland’s Sarah Burton in long jump.
