Preparation for Memorial Day Weekend and Beyond at Lake Darling
With Memorial Day Weekend being the unofficial kick-off to summer, Lake Darling State Park is off and running with seasonal preparations. Park Ranger Zach Haworth, tells us what tasks are being performed to prepare, “Springtime is always just an extremely busy time in preparing the park for the influx of visitors that we’re sure we’re going to see and everything from day use users all the way to the overnight guests. So spring is the time of year where we’re going through all of our facilities and getting water turned back on to them, getting trails cleared from any downed trees, we’re getting the fish habitat structure buoys put out, we’re getting the rental boats ready to go, just general park you know, getting things prepared at the park. It’s quite the process, it takes a lot of planning and a lot of effort and a lot of help from our seasonal employees that we hire and I’d like to thank them for all the hard work that they do.”
Haworth adds that it has been quite the challenge this spring due to the challenges brought on by the varying weather patterns of unseasonably cool to hotter temperatures in addition to working around the rain. Haworth says Lake Darling will be ready for the thousands of visitors that are sure to be visiting this summer.
