A trip to face No. 9 Solon was in store for the Washington girls’ soccer team on Tuesday in a class 1A regional semifinal and it was the home Spartans that emerged victorious in a 4-0 score.
The Solon defense has been highly touted all year only giving up seven goals on the spring and it showed in this one by pitching their 15th shutout of the season. They scored twice in both halves that proved to be enough to move on. The Spartans are now 16-3 and battle Van Meter tomorrow in a regional final. The Demons close the season 10-7 and bid farewell to five seniors in Elyse Hunt, Greta Rothe, Ava Turner, Emma Stalder, and Ellie Anderson.
