A recent Mid-Prairie great will continue her hoops career at the collegiate level. Maddie Nonnenmann, a member of the Mid-Prairie class of 2022 has signed to play basketball at Black Hawk College in the quad cities. Nonnenmann put together a decorated career for the Golden Hawks. During her time in black and gold she was an All-State, All-District and an All-Elite River Valley Conference selection on the court. She participated in the Iowa Basketball Coaches Association All-Star series where she put up a game high 18 points for the southeast squad in 2022. Nonnenmann helped lead the Hawks to a regional final appearance in her senior season.
She ends her time at Mid-Prairie with 1,066 points, the fourth highest total in program history, during a career that saw her play in 88 games, starting 65 while shooting 44% from the floor, 30% from three and average 12 points per game during her four years. She spoke recently with KCII Sports about the decision, “I was really looking for a community feel. The campus feels a lot like Mid-Prairie, a lot like home. The coaches are family friends so I have gotten to know them and the program. They like what I can bring in being a versatile player. They want me to play both outside and inside in the post. I think that was appealing for them and me. They want a competitive team, they want girls that want to win. I’m pretty excited for our season and to make new friends.”
Black Hawk College is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region IV. Under the direction of head coach Logan Frye, the Braves were 22-10 a season ago. Nonnenmann plans to pursue a business degree.
