A high scoring affair broke out on the baseball diamond at Franklin Park on Wednesday with Sigourney being on the right side of a 15-12 game against South Iowa Cedar League foe Belle Plaine.

This one was full of crooked number innings with the Savages leading 5-2 after one, but a seven spot for the Plainsmen (2-2) in the third gave them a 9-5 advantage. Down to their final three outs and trailing 12-10, Sigourney provided the clutch hits to plate five runs and seize victory. The black and gold tallied 14 hits led by Jake Moore going 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored. Levi Crawford went 3-for-3 and was plated four times. Sigourney took 11 free passes in the win. Max Phillips was the positive pitcher of record tossing 2 2/3 innings of relief without surrendering a run and giving up just two hits. Sigourney stays perfect moving to 5-0 overall and 4-0 in the SICL.

The No. 7 Savage softball team had their first setback of the summer being upset by the Plainsmen 3-2. Down 2-0 in the fifth, Belle Plaine (6-1) plated all three of their runs in that frame and held on for the victory despite just three hits in the game. Sigourney drops to 5-1 overall and 4-1 in the league.
