Hillcrest Academy grabbed their second win in 24-hours on Wednesday afternoon with a 5-3 victory over visiting Wapello. The second hitter of the day went deep for the Indians as Tate Kronfeldt belted a solo homer to give Wapello the early 1-0 lead. The deficit didn’t last long for Hillcrest, in the bottom of one, Luke Schrock singled, moved to second then came home on a Jace Rempel base hit to even the game. Things were even at one until the fifth when the same combo put the Ravens on top, Schrock singled and Rempel drove him in with a base hit to make it 2-1. Insurance came in the next frame for Hillcrest, scoring three times when Schrock belted an opposite field gapper with the bases loaded to bring everyone home. With the 5-1 lead, the Ravens withstood a late Wapello rally to hold on for the win. After the contest, head coach Danny Hershberger talked about Schrock’s outing on the mound and his team’s day at the plate.
