During a special board meeting, the Winfield-Mt. Union school board opted to move forward with a bid for an addition to current facilities. Klinger Architects, the firm the district has partnered with on the project, reported that one bid was received for the proposed addition to the industrial technology building. The board approved awarding the contract for work to Odessa Mechanical of Wapello for a price of $240,200 with 10% contingency.
Scheduled construction includes adding roughly 1,700 square feet to the current industrial technology building. The new facility would be a wood post frame structure to match the existing building. The addition is designed to serve as a large open space to accommodate the building trades class that constructs a wood shed each year for a school project. On the grounds, the exterior concrete paving and sidewalk around the building will also be replaced. Work is expected to be completed by December 1st.
