The middle part of the week has not been kind to the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk baseball team. They were beaten Wednesday at Iowa City Regina by the rival Regals 2-1. It was Mid-Prairie that scored first with their run coming in their first at bat. They held that lead until the fourth when the Regals got two, and that was it for offense on the night. Mid-Prairie was out hit 6-3 in the loss. Cain Brown was two for three with a run and a stolen base as Jack Tierney threw a complete game against the Hawks, striking out six. Collin Miller went six for Mid-Prairie, striking out five.

Thursday, a trip to Cascade resulted in a 3-0 loss for Mid-Prairie. The Cougars got two in the third and one more in the fourth. Cascade got an RBI each from Justin Rolling and Tanner Simon while using a complete game shut out with five strikeouts from Jack Carr to collect the win. After the two setbacks, Mid-Prairie is 7-4 on the year. They get back on the diamond tonight when the boys and girls host Mount Pleasant.
