trekfest-37

Riverside, the future birthplace of television and movies’, James T. Kirk, celebrates their 37th Trekfest June 24-25.

Riverside Trekfest Chairman Travis Riggan says Trekfest brings people from far and wide to Riverside, “These people come from far and wide and we have people that come in from California, to Chicago, to North Carolina, and with me running the social media for us, I’m seeing all these different engagements that we’re having. Our Facebook and Instagram is Riverside Trekfest and our website is trekfest.org. So, if anybody has any more information that they’re looking for, feel free to shoot us out a message on those two sites and let the fun begin!”

Trekfest starts with a pre-celebration on Thursday, June 23 at dusk with the showing of the Star Trek movie from 2009, which features the town of Riverside in a futuristic setting. The Kids Zone opens at 5 pm on Friday the 24th and the Demo Derby starts at 7 pm. Several bands will be performing throughout the two-day event. There will be a swap meet on Saturday featuring hard-to-find Star Trek Memorabilia and the parade at 10 am. To see a full list of all the events and bands visit the Trekfest website.
