
Authorities in Louisa County made a pair of felony arrests this spring in connection to illegal sales of THC cartridges, vaping devices and other illegal substances being sold to students at Wapello High School. The investigation was initiated by Wapello School Resource Deputy Takoda Alpara and fully investigated by the Louisa County Narcotics Investigation staff and Sheriff’s Office through the rest of May and into June.
As a result of the investigation, a residential search warrant was executed at 11473 County Road G56 in Wapello where two pounds of marijuana, a pound of psychedelic (psilocybin) mushrooms and THC cartridges and vaping devices were seized by authorities. A subsequent traffic stop was conducted near the residence on Highway X61 in Louisa County where another ounce of a methamphetamine and opiate mix, a half pound of marijuana, a quarter pound of THC wax, THC edibles, packaging materials, U.S. Currency and a Glock 19 handgun were all seized.
As a result of these warrants, searches and traffic stops, 24-year-old Mason Beik of Wapello was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver, a Class B felony, possession of controlled substance with intent to deliver, a Class C felony, two counts of felony possession with intent to deliver, both Class D felonies, and two counts of felony drug tax stamp violations, both Class D felonies. Beik has bonded out of custody.
A search warrant was also executed the same day at 5672 County Road X37 in Morning Sun where packaged marijuana, THC wax and other substances were seized. As a result, 20-year-old Levi Leibli of Morning Sun was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, a Class D felony. Leibli also bonded out of custody.
The Louisa County Sheriff’s Office was joined in the investigation by the Wapello Ambulance Service, Louisa County Attorney’s Office, Columbus Junction Police Department and the Wapello Police Department.
