The No. 8 in Class 2A Mid-Prairie baseball team split two road River Valley Conference contests in the middle of this week. Tuesday night, the Hawks lost an 8-7 game at Anamosa. Mid-Prairie jumped ahead first, scoring twice in their first at bat with Anamosa answering with one in the second, then the Hawks pushing across three in the third to go up 5-1. Anamosa got their own three spot in the bottom half to get back within one. The Golden Hawks countered with two in the sixth for a 7-4 advantage but the Raiders scored four unanswered across the last two frames to get the win. Mid-Prairie had six hits with Brock Harland and Dylan Henry driving in two each. Cain Brown, Will Cavanagh and Karson Grout each scored twice. Collin Miller threw five innings, giving up six hits, four earned runs and striking out four.

Against West Branch Wednesday, Mid-Prairie led wire-to-wire in a 10-6 victory. With four runs in the second and third, Mid-Prairie built an 8-0 lead. Single runs in the sixth and seventh helped the Hawks keep the Bears at bay as they scored their six across their final three at bats. The Golden Hawks pounded nine hits as a team, with two each from Cavanagh and Grout. Brown, Grout and Camron Pickard each drove in two. Brown, Cavanagh and Brady Weber all scored twice.
