43-year-old Christopher Robert Reed of Fairfield, IA turned himself in on Monday to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office for failure to appear at a pretrial conference for charges of two counts of animal neglect with serious injury or death.
The original incident as reported by KCII occurred on March 2nd when the Washington Police Department responded to a call about a dog that was left unattended for at least a week at Lot 36 Parkside Estates Road. Officers observed through a window, a dog that appeared to be in distress, and was restrained in a bedroom with no food or water and surrounded by feces. Entry was made and officers discovered the dog was emaciated and secured in a way that did not allow them access to food or water. Officers also found another dog in the residence that was deceased and in a state of decomposition. The injured dog was placed in the care of PAWS and More Animal Shelter, and on March 4th officers executed a search warrant on the residence.
He is currently being held on a $2,000 cash bond. KCII will bring you more information as it becomes official.
