highland-huskies51-9

If the Highland baseball team is following any superstition on game days, they better continue to follow it. The Huskies stretched their current win streak to 10 on Friday with a 12-2 victory in five innings against non-conference foe Alburnett.

Leading 2-1 in the third, the Huskies put up an eight spot in that frame and tacked on two more the next inning to manage the mercy-rule victory. The offense peppered 11 hits with Tyler Thompson going 3-for-3 with two RBI and three runs scored. Kaige Vonnahme, Brenton Bonebrake, and Ethan Paisley all brought in a pair of runs. Chase Schultz got the win on the mound tossing five innings giving up no earned runs on two hits and striking out nine.

The red and white push their record to 15-1 overall and 9-1 in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference. The battle for first place in the north division is tonight when the Huskies host league leading and undefeated Mediapolis (15-0, 10-0).
