Wayland Police Chief Dustin Stuelke is reminding area residents that it’s that time of year again when you will see and hear fireworks in the evenings. According to the Iowa Code for fireworks, a person is allowed to use or explode consumer fireworks based on specific local ordinances.
One example is that according to the Wayland City Code display fireworks are not allowed in city limits unless approved by the city council with a permit.
Stuelke adds, “We just ask people to please be courteous of their neighbors and of friends and family. To just be polite and if people are getting bothered by it, to just politely ask to knock it off. But unfortunately, it’s within their right by the state, they’re allowed to shoot them off.”
Stuelke ends by reminding people to please use fireworks properly and be courteous to others.
