heat-advisory-6-21-22

For the second time in as many weeks the National Weather Service has issued a heat related bulletin for the KCII listening area. Southeast Iowa will be under a heat advisory from noon Tuesday through 7p.m. Tuesday evening. Air temperatures are forecast to rise to the upper-90s and 100 degrees during the day with heat indices ranging from 100 to 105 degrees. KCII Weatherology Meteorologist Derek Heit shares the dangers regarding the heat levels and precautions those who are susceptible to heat related illness can take. “A Heat Advisory means that the combination of high temperatures and high humidity will produce dangerous conditions, especially those who are sensitive to the heat including children and the elderly. In order to prevent heat sickness and heat stroke, take steps to keep cool. These include, drinking plenty of water, staying in the shade as much as possible, and if you must be outside, take occasional breaks in an air conditioned building to cool down. Watch out for the warning signs of heat stroke including dizziness, nausea, headache and disorientation.”

There is a slight chance of thunderstorms Tuesday afternoon through the overnight hours with highs the rest of the week expected to stay in the low 90s with overnight lows near 70. Stay tuned to KCII for weather updates.
