A grain silo at the Agri-way Grain Elevators in Yarmouth, in Des Moines County collapsed on Tuesday morning, falling into another silo and rupturing its side while pushing an overhead grain storage bin off its foundation.

One person was still unaccounted for on Tuesday. Emergency crews from area counties have been conducting a prolonged response at the scene.

Washington County Safety Center, Louisa County Dispatch, Des Moines County Sheriff’s Office and Mediapolis Fire confirmed that the following local agencies were on scene in the last 24 plus hours: Washington. Mt. Union, Olds, Wapello, Wayland, Winfield, Mt. Pleasant, Crawfordsville, Morning Sun and Oakville.

Des Moines County Sheriff’s Office Lieutenant Clint Williams confirmed the initial call came in just after 8 a.m. on Tuesday. KCII will bring you more information as it becomes official.
