A grain silo at the Agri-way Grain Elevators in Yarmouth, in Des Moines County collapsed on Tuesday morning, falling into another silo and rupturing its side while pushing an overhead grain storage bin off its foundation.

Washington County Safety Center, Louisa County Dispatch, Des Moines County Sheriff’s Office and Mediapolis Fire confirmed that the following local agencies were on scene in the last 24 plus hours: Washington. Mt. Union, Olds, Wapello, Wayland, Winfield, Mt. Pleasant, Crawfordsville, Morning Sun and Oakville.

The one person that was unaccounted for was found dead in the collapsed silo with the Des Moines County Sheriff’s Office confirming the death at 1:15pm Wednesday.
