A program that is trending in the right direction is the Columbus Community softball team and the Wildcats had a busy last couple days with a split in a pair of contests.
The Wildcats won their fifth straight on Tuesday when they invaded Wapello and put up several crooked number innings in a 13-6 victory over the Arrows (13-9). The offense was relentless with 14 hits led by a 4-for-5 and four RBI night from Libby White and 4-for-5 with two RBI outing from Lily Coil. Jocelyn Fulton connected on a home run and finished 2-for-5. Kennedy Woepking picked up the win in the circle tossing five innings giving up three earned tallies on eight hits and striking out six. The win streak came to a close last night when visiting No. 8 in class 3A West Burlington (17-4) handled the Wildcats by a 13-0 final score.
The blue and white are now 12-10 overall and 8-7 in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference.
