The Lone Tree summer teams have stayed in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference the last couple nights with the baseball squad splitting a pair of games and softball falling in two.
The baseball team was all over Louisa-Muscatine on Tuesday in an 11-3 Lion victory. The offense recorded 10 hits with Cade Shield setting the tone for a 3-for-5 night with one RBI and three runs scored. Will Kleckner brought in four tallies. Four pitchers saw action on the mound surrendering three runs on seven hits. The bats kept their momentum last night, but it wasn’t enough in a 13-9 loss to Central Lee. Mathew Hemsted, Tyler Bell, and Hunter Hain each connected on a pair of knocks and Andrew Gauley brought in two runs. Lone Tree is now 6-9 overall and 5-6 in conference.
The softball team kept the No. 7 in 2A Louisa-Muscatine bats at bay, but couldn’t find any offense themselves in a 4-0 loss. The Falcons scattered six hits in the win. Lone Tree then fell to Central Lee in a high scoring affair last night by a 10-8 count. The Lions are now 9-11 overall and 5-7 in the league.
