When it comes to their strength of schedule, the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk softball team doesn’t back down from anyone. That’s apparent when analyzing their slate from Friday when they took on No. 10 in Class 5A Linn-Mar and No. 1 in Class 3A Mount Vernon at the Linn-Mar/Alburnett Tournament.

Against the large school Lions, the Hawks were beaten by a 4-1 score. Linn-Mar put up four first inning runs, and Mid-Prairie got on the board with a single tally in the third. In their second meeting of the season with the top ranked Mustangs, the Hawks were beaten 10-2. Subsequent rounds of the tournament scheduled for Saturday were rained out. Mid-Prairie is now 13-12 on the season as they get ready for a date with Durant on Monday in Kalona.
