It was a cross over road trip for the Highland summer teams on Friday when they traveled to New London with both schools walking away with a split. 

The Huskie softball team took advantage of a five run third to bounce the Tigers 10-0 in six innings. They peppered 11 hits with Payton Brun going 4-for-4 with two RBI and Lilly Barre brought in two tallies. Grace Batcheller gave up just two hits in the complete game shutout striking out seven batters. Highland turned around the next day to split a pair of games in the Washington tournament falling to No. 2 in 3A Assumption 7-1 and then defeating Davenport West 10-3. In the Knight loss the Huskies managed three knocks with Sarah Burton going 2-for-3. Jessica Kraus went the distance in the circle surrendering five earned runs on 12 hits. Leading 4-3 in the fifth of game two, the Huskies put up a six spot in the frame that led to the decisive victory. Payton Brun was clearing the bases finishing with five RBI on a pair of hits. Batcheller got the win giving up three runs on five hits in six innings of work. Highland improves to 16-8 overall. 

The No. 3 ranked Tigers got out to an early lead in the baseball game on Friday and never looked back in a 10-0 victory. The New London offense had 10 hits compared to Highland’s five. The Huskies are now 17-3 on the campaign.
