The Hillcrest baseball and softball teams are in Wapello for games rescheduled from June 6th. The Hillcrest baseball team is 8-10 this year after a 5-4 win over Pekin in Kalona Thursday. The Ravens are hitting .236 as a team, led by Luke Schrock at .348 with 24 total hits and 19 runs scored. Jace Rempel has a team best 16 RBI. The Raven team ERA is 4.13 with Seth Ours at 2.39 with a 2-2 record in 29 innings. Luke Schrock has a 3-2 mark with a 3.97 ERA. Wapello is 3-13 this year, 3-9 in the Superconference after a 5-1 loss to Pekin their last time out. The Indians are hitting .257 as a group, led by Casey Short at .429 with 21 hits. Owen Housman has scored 11 runs and Tate Kronfeldt has driven in 10. Their team ERA is 4.98 led by Short at 2.36 in 26 innings with an 0-2 record. Housman is 2-5 on the season. These two met earlier this season in Kalona with the Ravens scoring a 5-3 victory.
On the softball diamond, Hillcrest is 4-15 this year after a 12-5 loss at Holy Trinity Catholic on Friday. For the season, the Ravens are hitting .283 led by Malia Yoder’s .426 with 26 total hits. Esther Hughes has scored 18 times and Grace Miller has driven in 13 runs. In the circle, Leah Bontrager has worked 93 innings with a 4-13 record and 7.12 ERA. Wapello is 13-10 overall, 6-7 in the Superconference this season. They lost to Highland 5-3 in their last action. For the year, the Arrows are hitting .329 collectively, led by Sera Shafer’s .533 with 40 hits and 38 runs scored. Morgan Richenberger has driven in 30. In the circle, they have a 3.53 team ERA with Ada Boysen and Richenberger a combined 11-8 in 105 innings with a 3.30 ERA. The Arrows have won 13 straight in the series. Both contests get underway at 7p.m. Monday in Wapello.
