It’s a season sweep for the Highland summer teams against area school Winfield-Mt. Union after the Huskies won a pair on the road in Southeast Iowa Super Conference play Monday.

The baseball game was scoreless until a three run Huskie fourth and that score stayed true until a five spot in the seventh that led to an 8-3 victory. The offense managed 11 hits with Chase Schultz going 2-for-3 with three RBI and Kaige Vonnahme brought in two on two hits. Schultz recorded the win on the mound tossing 3 2/3 innings without giving up a run and allowing one hit. Highland is now 18-3 overall and 12-2 in league play. WMU falls to 2-15 and 2-12 in the SEISC.

Like the baseball matchup, the softball contest was close for awhile with the score being 4-1 Highland after six and then they busted things open in the seventh for a 9-1 win. Sarah Burton led a seven hit offense going 2-for-4 with one RBI and three runs scored. Grace Batcheller plated three in the win. Jessica Kraus twirled a complete game in the circle giving up one run on three hits and striking out four. Highland is now 17-8 and 11-3 in the north. WMU falls to 6-9 overall and in conference.
