The 4-H Livestock Auction will take place on July 22nd at the Washington County fair at 8:30 am. Various livestock will be available to purchase, including cattle and poultry, with the money going to benefit the 4-H members that helped raise them.
4-H Youth Coordinator Amy Green discusses the importance of buying local and its impact on the community.
“People like to know where their food is from, and supporting the livestock auction is a great way to keep your money in the community. You can take it to a local butcher, which is more money into the community to feed your family and businesses. ”
Green would like to remind buyers that all purchases are final, and possession of the animal will transfer over to the buyer once the sale is made. If the buyer needs help transporting the animal, arrangements can be made at the fair. The Washington County Fair will begin on July 17th and run through July 22nd.
