An area non-conference baseball showdown took place in Sigourney on Friday with the host Savages taking care of Lone Tree 12-2.
Sigourney scored multiple runs in every inning that led to the mercy rule victory in five frames. The offense recorded 14 hits with Cade Molyneux going 3-for-3 with three RBI and Levi Crawford finished with three knocks including a home run with two RBI. The senior Crawford picked up the win on the hill tossing 4 1/3 innings surrendering one run on five hits. Will Kleckner had three of the Lion seven hits and plated a pair of tallies. Cade Shield threw three innings giving up seven earned runs on 10 knocks. The Lone Tree bats couldn’t cash in again last night by falling to Pekin 4-2. Shield was a bright spot going 3-for-4 with one RBI. Gavin Pourroy threw five frames surrendering one run on five hits.
The Savages improved to 15-4 and the Lions dropped to 6-12.
