The City Council approved a zoning ordinance change at the June 21st City Council meeting by changing the boundaries of the zoning districts for the Country Club View Subdivision. The approved zoning change moved the subdivision from being classified as agriculture to a residential district to allow for the building of multiple residential units.

Water runoff still seems to be an issue for citizens in or near this district who remain unsatisfied with the lack of progress that has been made. Washington Resident Tom Doughty commented at the June 21st meeting that a plan needs to be made.

“My only comment would be that when it does happen, people need to make a plan looking to the future and execute it and not go halfway by throwing in multiple patches and take the landowner’s concerns into account. We pay a lot of money in property taxes, and we feel like in our instance, we are not getting a very good return on that money.”

The next City Council meeting will be on July 5th at 6 pm in the Council Chambers, and the public can voice their concerns about issues they may have during the public presentation segment near the beginning of the meeting.
