The detour that started back in April on W55 (Wayland Road) between Highway 78 and 320th Street has ended.

Box culvert replacement and shoulder widening are now completed. The asphalt contractor was able to do the widening needed and to get the first lift of asphalt down. Drivers should note there are no pavement markings at this time.

Henry County Engineer Jake Hotchkiss asks for driver’s patience as final work is wrapped up, “Now we’re in the final stages and ask for people’s patience as we get that work done safely out there.”

Commuters should anticipate that additional lifts for the new asphalt section will continue over the next several weeks, so expect some delays. This is in conjunction with the current Franklin Avenue south of Highway 78 to Trenton asphalt project.
