Members of the Mid-Prairie boys soccer team were recently recognized for their work on the pitch and in the classroom this spring. Four Golden Hawks were named to the Class 1A Iowa Boys Soccer Academic All-State team.
Senior goalkeeper Justice Jones was selected. Jones finished the year with more than 1,000 minutes spent in goal, making 59 saves and ending the year with an 80% save percentage. Jones was also a Class 1A honorable mention All-State performer in goal for the Golden Hawks in 2022 as selected by the IAHSSCA.
Senior midfielder Jack Pennington was named to the Academic All-State team. He finished the year with a club leading 14 goals to go along with eight assists.
Senior Gunnar Gingerich was an Academic All-State pick. The forward racked up 11 goals and had four assists in 2022.
Junior Braden Hartley was an Academic All-State selection for Mid-Prairie in 1A. Hartley was part of a Golden Hawk defense that locked down nine shut outs this season to go with his two goals and three assists.
In order to be selected, athletes must have participated in more than of their team’s varsity halves and achieved a GPA of greater than 3.50.
