Two wins separate the Highland softball team from a state bid and tonight they will have to go through a top 10 team to move closer when they travel to face No. 7 Twin Cedars in a class 1A regional semifinal.

Highland comes in with a 21-8 record and advanced to this round after downing English Valleys 5-1 on Wednesday. Grace Batcheller and Jessica Kraus have been a two-headed monster all year in the circle with a collective 2.75 ERA in 183 innings of work. The offense likes to run with over three stolen bases a night and they hit .330 as a team. Sarah Burton leads the group with a .474 average and Payton Brun has knocked in 25 runs. The Sabers are 24-3 and ran through the Bluegrass Conference with a 16-0 league mark. They put up an eye-popping 9.9 runs a game and only surrender 1.4 runs. As a collective unit they have a .425 batting average with Grace Bailey producing a .564 BA and 41 RBI. Expect to see the senior in the circle as well with her 1.25 ERA in 95 innings.

The opportunity for the Huskies to clinch their second straight regional final begins at 7 p.m. tonight in Bussey.
