At the July 5th Washington City Council meeting, there was a scheduled possible first reading of an ordinance amending parking and street regulations. Many of the public in attendance wanted to discuss the proposed changes, and after consideration, the Council decided to shelve the first reading of this proposed ordinance.
This decision aligns with the current approach outlined by Mayor Jaron Rosien, who at the June 21st meeting said he wanted to be cautious about rushing into making a decision. Mayor Rosien talks about the public comments at the meeting and the future of this proposed ordinance.
“There were probably fifteen or so people that spoke about these changes. Myself and the rest of the council listened and took those comments into consideration as we continue to workshop those parking changes. We did not pick up the first reading, we are making adjustments and changes with people’s input in mind, and we are looking forward to making improvements keeping in mind those who will be impacted the most.”
The next City Council meeting will be on July 19th at 6 pm in the Council Chambers at City Hall, and the floor will be open for public comments at the beginning of the meeting.
