Major construction is underway at Pleasantview Home in Kalona.

The current project includes the addition of a 16-bed unit for memory care residents with alzheimers and other forms of dementia, which will be on the north side of the campus. Renovation of existing space will become twenty-eight assisted living apartments. New construction also includes a stand alone Friendship/Community Center that will be at the southwest corner of the campus.

The General Contractor for the project is Cardinal Construction of Waterloo. There are several local subcontractors on site. Total cost of the project is more than $15 million.

Director of Advancement at Pleasantview Home Larry Swartzendruber stresses, “It’s a project that we never stop raising funds for and we’re grateful for the community for the funds that have been raised and we’re encouraging people to continue to give and we’re visiting with people to help make that happen.”

Construction is scheduled to be completed incrementally. The entire project is slated to finish in the summer of 2024.
