The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk baseball team takes the field tonight in Solon in hopes of clinching a bid to the 2A State tournament when they meet No. 6 West Marshall. Mid-Prairie is 17-10 this season after a 15-3 win over Van Buren in Wellman in five innings Saturday to clinch the District 11 Championship. The Hawks are hitting .294 as a team this season, with five players over .300, led by Karson Grout at .384 with a team best 28 RBI. Cain Brown had 31 hits and 31 runs scored. Mid-Prairie’s team ERA is 3.82 with Grout at 4-0 with a 2.42. Brock Harland is 3-1 with a 2.10 and Bowen Burmeister, Collin Miller and Brady Weber all have multiple wins.
West Marshall is 28-8 this season. The Trojans won the District 12 Championship 13-0 in five innings over Williamsburg Saturday. They have a team average of .305 with six players over .300 led by Parker Reese at .410 with 43 hits. Kinnick Christiansen has driven in 46 runs and Clay Cuva has scored 42 times. On the mound the Trojans have a 2.46 team ERA led by Owen Siegert at 6-2 with a 0.60 mark. Clay Cuva is 6-0, Christiansen and Will Dawley are a combined 11-2. This week, Mid-Prairie head coach Kyle Mullet talked about what it will take to be successful Tuesday.

The winner of this contest advances to the state tournament in Carroll. Mid-Prairie’s last trip came in 2020, they have made five trips all-time. The Trojans last went in 1999.
