The Washington County Fair will open up Sunday, July 17th, and will run until Friday, July 22nd, at the Washington Fairgrounds. There will be several events on opening night, including a 4-H and FFA dog obedience show, a garden tractor pull at the main grandstand, and the night will be wrapped up with the Washington County Queen Contest at the Community Center.
The curtain jerker for opening night will be a Truck & ATV Mud Race, which will take place south of the main grandstand. The event will feature timed side-by-side racing, and unlike a regular mud run that features foot-deep mud, the track will be wet enough to take away traction from the racers.
There is no entry fee for this event, with all event entries for the fair being included with a ticket or season pass purchase. Tickets and season passes can be bought ahead of time at the Washington County Extension Office, the Washington Chamber of Commerce, Fareway, or from 4-H and FFA Members. If you would like a full schedule of events, you can download the free Washington County Fair Iowa App from the Apple and Android marketplaces.
