The 2022 Washington County Fair Queen has been crowned.

Katie Leichty of Wayland was named Washington County Fair Queen Sunday night, Maddie Peiffer was named Princess, and Ally Rees was named Miss Congeniality.

During one of her two interview questions in the competition, she described her mother, Chris as the most influential person in her life because of her kindness and the ability to listen to everybody and make them feel heard.

Leichty is the daughter of Loran and Chris Leichty. She will now have the opportunity to represent Washington County at the Iowa State Fair.

Grace Coble, Zoe Fisher, Taylor Garman, Halli Hershberger, Alex Murphy, and Abby Renoux were also contestants for this year’s fair queen. 2021 Washington County Fair Queen Carmen Sieren helped crown Katie, and 2022 Miss Rodeo Iowa Emma Bair was the emcee for the 28th annual pageant.
