The Southeast Conference released its postseason baseball awards last week with six Washington players making the cut.
The top four in the Demon order all received all conference honors including first team selections in Ethan Zieglowsky, Lucas Kroll, and Ethan Patterson. Zieglowsky was the captain of the defense as the everyday catcher with the senior picking off 11 base runners, producing a .372 on base percentage offensively, and driving in 12 runs. Kroll had a .349 batting average, brought in 19 tallies, and stole 11 bags. Patterson led the league in stolen bases with 18, finished third in batting average with .378, and did not allow an earned run in 15 2/3 innings on the mound. Kole Williams was named a second team selection in the league with the slugger producing a .373 average, bringing in the second most RBI in the conference with 30, and his 12 doubles ranked first.
Honorable mention selections included seniors Zeke Slagel and Matt Wolf. Slagel had the most starts on the mound for the team with 10 giving up 27 earned runs in 28 innings and having a .286 OBP offensively. Wolf recorded a .300 on base percentage for the year. Furthermore, nine players were named academic all conference including Patterson, Kroll, Wolf, Zieglowsky, Aden Six, Ajay Six, Avery Six, James Strabala, and Isaac Vetter.
Washington finished the summer 6-21 overall and 4-14 in SEC play.
