The 25th Annual Brinton Film festival and Ice Cream Social is coming up on Friday and Saturday, July 29 and 30, at 7 p.m. at the Ainsworth Community Center Opera House.
The festival is the longest running film festival in the state of Iowa as well as being one of the longest running film festivals in the United States that shows only period films.
Brinton Film Historian Michael Zahs shares attendees will experience something new this year at the festival, “This year, if everything works okay, we will have something that has not been at an audience in over 120 years anywhere in the world. I’m not going to say what it is, because we’re still waiting for it to arrive, but it will be something very very significant.”
Zahs adds that they’ve waited for the technology to get to the point that they could re-format this material.
Admission to the film festival is a free will donation and proceeds will be given to support the Ainsworth Community Center Opera House.
