The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk baseball team will play in Thursday’s semifinal round of the Class 2A State Tournament in Carroll. The Golden Hawks advanced to this point in the postseason with a 3-2 win over No. 3 Cascade in Tuesday’s quarterfinal. This is the first time the Golden Hawks have reached the semifinals in 15 years. They have a 19-10 record.
They will take on Estherville Lincoln Central who is 32-2. The Midgets were ranked No. 2 in the final Class 2A poll of the year released by the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association. They were 5-1 winners over Interstate 35 in Tuesday’s opener. The winner of this game will play for a state championship Friday.
