Thirty-two-year-old Brett Kriz of Cedar Rapids was sentenced to 260 months in federal prison for conspiracy to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine and possession with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine. The original incident occurred on March 24th, 2021, when Washington County Sheriff’s deputies stopped Kriz and his female accomplice, twenty-six-year-old Tessa Rayanne Kindred, on Highway 22 in Riverside.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office seized more than 845 grams of methamphetamine. Both were arrested for possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, tax stamp violation, possession of marijuana, fraud, false information and identification, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Kriz was also charged with driving with a revoked license. In post-Miranda statements, Kriz admitted to regularly purchasing methamphetamine, which he distributed in various places in eastern Iowa.

Kriz must also serve five years of supervised release to follow his prison term. KCII will bring you more information as it becomes official.
