At the July 19th City Council meeting, a discussion was held on a bid to repair the pump for Well #7 in Washington. The Council unanimously approved the replacement of the pump motor, which was revealed to have burnt out during a routine inspection.

No significant issues have arisen because the pump is down, but Washington Mayor Jaron Rosien stresses the importance of getting back up to full strength. “As of right now, the city is in fine condition running on two wells, but we’d like to have more redundancy than that, so the repair is necessary to make sure that redundancy is locked in.

Kyle Wellington, the Superintendent of the Washington Water Plant, also confirmed that Washington is under no immediate threat of over capacitating itself and was able to provide a timeline for repairs. “I spoke with the well company; if it was a state of emergency and they needed to get down here to fix it, they would’ve been down here whenever I needed them. But as far as their regular routine schedule goes, they plan to be down here the week of August 15th.

Questions or concerns about the status of the repairs or about the other two operational wells can be answered by the Washington Water Plant.
