At the July 13th Washington School Board meeting, the Washington School Board went through several action items, including the second reading of the board policy for the upcoming school year, accepting a bid for the school’s athletic training provider, and the appointment of a new board secretary.

School Board Secretary is an appointment-only position that is currently being held by Jeff Dieleman. At the meeting, Dieleman talked about his possible upcoming retirement and announced his support for Amy Greiner to replace him as Board Secretary. Washington Schools Superintendent Willie Stone discussed why this preemptive appointment was made.

“Jeff Dieleman is looking at retirement, and Amy is in the School Board Officer Program that is run through the state, and we felt like it would be good to get her some experience as the School Board Secretary so that if Jeff does decide to retire it gives her the experience she needs, so we don’t lose everything at once.”

The next meeting of the Washington County School Board will be on August 10th at 7 pm in Washington.
