Several area baseball players were not only getting it done on the diamond this year, but in the classroom as well with four KCII area athletes being named academic all state by the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association. 

First team academic all state selections included seniors Will Cavanagh of Mid-Prairie, Highland’s Connor Grinstead, Sigourney’s Cade Molyneux, and Keota’s Colten Clarahan. They were among the top 21 players in the state regardless of class who demonstrated outstanding academic, moral, and athletic characteristics. The players are nominated by their coaches with the next 23 players receiving second team distinction. 

This was the 36th annual all academic team by the IHSBCA.
