The Henry County Sheriff’s Office reports that they were contacted by a concerned citizen in May reporting a potential situation of Stolen Valor.
It was reported a benefit motorcycle ride was held for Christopher M. Williams, 45 of Oxford Junction, in Mt. Pleasant, in September of 2020.
An investigation into the incident determined Williams was allegedly portraying himself to be a veteran of the armed forces. He had received over $4500 in monetary gain for the motorcycle ride. Several attempts were made to verify his veteran status. No records were ever found.On July 11, Williams was charged with Fraudulent Practice in the 2nd Degree, a class D felony. Warrants have been issued for his arrest. This felony is punishable by confinement for no more than five years and a fine of at least $750 but not more than $7,500.
