The Culpepper & Merriweather Great Combined Circus is coming back to Wellman. The North Park ballfields will be the hosting spot for the circus on Sunday, August 21.

The tent raising, along with a tour will start that morning at 9:30 a.m. Everyone is invited to watch the big top rise and have a chance to tour the grounds, learn about life on the road, see the animals and learn about their care with a behind the scenes look at the show.

The Midway will open at 1:00 p.m. and will include pony rides, moon bounce, giant slide, face painting, concession stand and the box office.

There will be  performances at 2 and 4:30 p.m.

The circus last appeared in Wellman in 2019 and it was a big success. They asked the City of Wellman to visit again.

Administrator for the City of Wellman Kelly Litwiller describes the show before the show, “On the 21st, they will do a tent raising and tour and if you’ve never seen it, it is actually raising the big top and they pound in all the stakes and do everything all by hand and get it setup. It’s pretty amazing for the kids to be able and come out and see how everything is done. You don’t get to see that very often.”

Advance tickets are $12 for adults and  $7 for children 2-12 and seniors 65 plus and can be purchased at Freeman Foods, Wellman City Hall, The Wellman Branch of Hills Bank and the Wellman Branch of Federation Bank.

Day of the show box office prices are $15 for adults and $8 for children 2-12 and seniors 65 plus. The box office tickets go on sale one hour before each show.
