June saw the unemployment rate rise slightly across the board for almost the entirety of the KCII listening area.

Unemployment slightly increased from 2.0-2.3% in Washington County, 2.2-2.5% in Jefferson County, 1.9-2.3% in Johnson County, 2.4-2.8% in Louisa County, 1.9-2.2% in Iowa County and 2.2-2.8% in Keokuk County. Henry County was the only county not to experience a rise in unemployment as it remained at 2.7%. This June, unemployment decreased on a state level from 2.7-2.6% and remained at 3.6% across the United States.

All of Iowa’s 99 counties had lower unemployment than in June of last year, and the total number of working Iowans increased to 1,665,500 in June. This figure is approximately 8,000 higher than in May.
