The top 10 countdown of the best sports stories from the 2021-22 academic year continues today for Washington with number seven on our list taking us to the bowling lanes.

Ethan Zieglowsky made a name for himself in the Demon bowling program each of his first three high school years, but came up just short of his ultimate goal of a state bid. The senior would not be denied in his final season when the multi-sport standout made history on February 15th by becoming the first Demon boys bowler to advance to state by placing runner-up at a class 1A state qualifier in Camanche. Zieglowsky tallied a three game series score of 634 to crack the top four and advance. He tells KCII Sports how he was feeling in the lead up to the awards ceremony. “The nerves in the 10 minute wait we had until they got the final scores in was overwhelming. As soon as they said the lowest score of the top four I knew immediately that I was in. It was the biggest feeling of relief in my entire life.” At state the senior finished 16th overall with a three game score of 637. He helped bring the program back to relevance this year with the team having wins over Sigourney, West Burlington, and Mount Pleasant. Zieglowsky will continue his bowling career at William Penn University in Oskaloosa.

Check back in tomorrow for number six on our Demon countdown.
