The fourth biggest story in Hillcrest Raven athletics from last year sends us to the golf course. After reaching the district tournament in 2021 for the first time in 16 years, the Ravens continued their ascension by going back for a second year and sending an individual to state for the first time since 1993. In the sectional round of the tournament at Knoll Ridge in North English, Hillcrest shot a team score of 381 to finish as team runners-up. Junior Jace Rempel led the way individually in fourth overall with an 89. Other scores included Luke Schrock 94, Liam Schrock 96, Josiah Beachy 102 and Alex Niemeyer 121. In the district meet at Pleasant Valley Golf Course in Iowa City, Rempel became the first Raven to make state in nearly 30 years with a card of 84, finish as district runner-up. As a team, Hillcrest was fifth of 11 schools with a 381 team score including Luke Schrock shooting 91, Liam Schrock 93, Josiah Beachy 113 and Alex Niemeyer 122.
At state at the Ames Golf and Country Club, Rempel tied for 16th of 57 competitors with his two day total of 178, including a second day 87.
