A boil advisory was issued Tuesday in Washington for South 3rd Ave, stretching from Harrison St to Tyler St. Residents and businesses in the area are advised to boil all water for at least five minutes before any activity involving the consumption of water.
JJ Bell, the Superintendent of the Maintenance and Construction Department for Washington, talked with KCII about what caused the issue. “We had a water main break earlier in the day, and after the repair, it broke again underneath the street. We were unsure if we maintained the proper PSI level for positive water flow, which is supposed to be around 25 psi. We were right around that threshold but to be safe; we issued the boil order since it was near the Hospital.”
Bell notes that this is the first time in a while that a boil advisory has been issued for Washington and that the test has been sent to Coralville for evaluation. Results of the test are expected by today; contact Washington City Hall for any questions about the test results.
(Editors Note: The Boil Advisory has been lifted as of 8:40 am today)
