The Mid-Prairie Community School District’s August 8th meeting of the Board of Education picked up the discussion of the Middle School and East Elementary Schematic Design from July’s meeting.
With the added value of more time to look over the process and formulate questions for contractors; Carl A. Nelson and Shive-Hattery, the collective group was able to still keep plans in place with their original goal and yet save on some costs with the project. Superintendent of the Mid-Prairie Community School District Brian Stone shares how that was accomplished, “We’re looking at coming in, not changing the scope of the project in any capacity, about $220,000 below the budget. Yet, there were some items discussed that still I have just not heard back from Carl A. Nelson or Shive Hattery, that there’s going to be some additional items that are going to be removed from the project that’s going to make that number even better.”
The budget of the project is around $12 million dollars. Usable space will be added to the schools for students in addition to making the environment more accessible and flexible.
