Iowa State Patrol arrested twenty-three-year-old Darian Medlock of Cedar Rapids in Crawfordsville Thursday for a pair of felonious burglary warrants out of Keokuk County. According to police reports, on July 7th, Medlock went into the house at 116 N. Ellis St in Keota with the intent to commit an assault inside.
Medlock entered the bedroom where his daughter and the child’s aunt were sleeping. He did not find his estranged girlfriend or her new boyfriend and was seen leaving the house, but before he left, he looked out and saw his estranged girlfriend and her new boyfriend. He exited the house, opened the passenger side door of their vehicle, pulled the former girlfriend out, and then assaulted the male boyfriend before running from the area.
Medlock has been charged with 1st and 2nd-degree burglary, both of which are felonies, 3rd-degree harassment, domestic abuse assault firstt offense, and trespass first offense. Medlock was transported to the Washington County Jail with a detainer placed for Keokuk County and was issued a $25,000 cash-only bond. Medlock’s initial hearing will occur on August 19th at the Associate Courtroom in the Keokuk County Courthouse. KCII will bring you more information as it becomes official.
