As part of the new Federal Transportation Bill, there is over one billion dollars worth of roadway safety funding in the form of the Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) grants.
At the August 9th Board of Supervisors meeting, the board approved joining the Iowa County Engineers Association (ICEA) statewide SS4A grant application to receive an updated action plan. The ICEA plans to apply for an SS4A grant to develop and supply all of Iowa’s 99 counties with an action plan at no cost to the counties.
The Board of Supervisors took this action as a way to significantly decrease the number of roadway fatalities and serious injuries in Washington County.
